by Joanna McClelland Glass
May 10, 11, 16, 17, & 18 at 8:00 & May 12 at 2:00
A hit of the 2008 Stratford Festival, Glass's Palmer
Park is a docu-drama of sorts that tells the story of the rise and fall
of a 1960's Detroit neighborhood that managed to remain for many years a
bastion of racial integration and harmony in the face of white flight
and urban decay. This is a powerful piece that speaks to what continue
to be many of the central issues of our time.
Tickets are $15 with $5 from every ticket to go towards
Dr. Freddie Thomas High School.
Talk back proceeding the May 12th matinee featuring the following panelists: Mary
Adams, member of the Rochester City School Board; Don Bartalo, Rochester Area
educator for many years; Jim Anderson, from the Alliance for Quality Education;
and Yusef Shakur, Director of the Urban Network in Detroit, and author of “The
Window 2 My Soul.”
